Best of 2011: Chill

23 Dec

As you know, chilled laid-back music is what I like best. Here are the songs that have helped me chillax this year, it was really hard to narrow it down to 20 songs so bear with me :

Josephine Skriver by Hasse Nielsen for Bon International F/W 2011

Chanel’s 2011 Fall Campaign Starring Freja Beha Erichsson, shot by Karl Lagerfeld (who else) and styled by Carine Roitfeld.

Correct me if I’m wrong but this has got to be Chanel’s most playful campaign to date!Freja is actually rocking whiskers and pulling it off, the way only models can (think Louis Vuitton’s bunny ears).

My favorite: Il n'y a pas de mode si elle ne descend pas dans la rue

Creepy Terry

2 Oct

For the release of the book Mom and Dad  Terry Richardson exhibits for the first time a very intimate work including members of his family, this is being showcased at Colette in Paris, which have also set up a pop-up Terry shop.

The stills in the exhibit are actually for sale so if you want to own a piece by fashion’s original creepster head down to Rue St. Honoré before November 5th.

Midas Touch

Walking around certain parts of London, one cannot help but notice a certain amount of ostentatious display of wealth by certain people from a certain part of the world (sadly, mine). The logic seems to be “fuck it, let’s just pleat it all in Gold”.

The following creations seem to follow this logic yet the tackiness is, thankfully, lacking.

Here’s KNSTRCT‘s top  golden products:

Rosa Muerta by architect Robert Stone

gold plated Atari 2600

The Coveteur is a fashion blog with particularly well studied photography. With this Dries Van Noten quote as a motto-  “It’s more interesting to have just a picture of a small detail – then you can dream all the rest around it. Because when you see the whole thing, what is there to imagine?”–  it features interviews of famous designers/bloggers/photographers/editors/models taken in the comfort of their homes and focusing on their favorite pieces of apparel or accessory. Said pieces are shot as if they were models posing, set in the right (or in a completely unexpected) context.

Instant Coup de Coke!

By Erik Madigan Heck for Nomenus Quarterly

Elepheel is 19 year old Omar el Fil,a Lebanese teen who I don’t know much about but assume makes beats at home. Judging by his soundcloud page,  and if he can find someone to produce his tracks, he’s going places!

Trippy (Hah!) Trip-Hop at its finest.
